Little Smokies in Orange Sauce

This is a great great dish for buffet style or a church dinner. Also great for family gatherings.

Ingredients
  • 1-2 lbs. Little Smokies (or generic)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 8 whole cloves (1/4 tsp. ground cloves may be substituted)
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
Instructions
  1. Mix sugar, cornstarch, and orange juice in sauce pan.

  2. Add cloves, cinnamon, and vinegar.

  3. Cut Little Smokies into 1 inch pieces. Add to sauce.

  4. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thick.

  5. Serve in chaffing dish.

Cheese and Sausage Balls

This three ingredient appetizer is great to make when you have unexpected company or a family gathering.

Sausage balls may be made ahead of time and frozen until ready to use. Reheat in the oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes or in the microwave on high power for 1 minute.

  • 2 1/2 cups Bisquick
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 lb. hot sausage
Instructions
  1. Blend all ingredients real well using your hands.

  2. Form into 1 inch balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet.

  3. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

Ingredients
  • 3 lbs. small chicken wings (about 15)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/3 cup lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
Instructions
  1. Cut off tips of wings and discard.

  2. Divide each wing in half and place in single layer on a rack in a broiler pan.

  3. Bake in 400 degree oven, turning once, for 30 minutes.

  4. Mix sugar, salt, ginger and pepper in a small saucepan.

  5. Stir in water, lemon juice and soy sauce.

  6. Cook on medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens. Then boil for 3 minutes.

  7. Brush half of the mixture over the wings and cook for 40 additional minutes, flipping the wings and brushing the remaining mixture over the wings midway between cooking.

  • 2 15 oz. jars of queso
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 package taco seasoning
  • 1 bag tortilla chips
Instructions
  1. Brown your ground beef in a skillet.

  2. Drain ground beef and return to skillet.

  3. Add taco seasoning and cook as directed.

  4. Place queso in large microwave safe bowl.

  5. Add taco meat to queso and microwave until heated through.

  6. Serve with tortilla chips.

Tired of beef nachos, try this spin on a traditional plate of nachos. This recipe is versatile. If you want to change things up, you can also use this chicken as a topping over a baked potato.

  • 1 bag Tortilla chips
  • 2 boneless chicken breasts, diced
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 3/4 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
  1. Dice your chicken.

  2. Heat the oil in a pan on high heat.

  3. Season your chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder and chili powder and cook in the hot skillet for two to three minutes.

  4. Add the barbecue sauce and cook until the sauce has been reduced by half, about five minutes.

  5. Remove from heat.

  6. Serve over Tortilla chips. Add the shredded cheese to the top and microwave for 30 seconds to melt the cheese.

Here's a delicious appetizer that everyone is sure to enjoy! However the prep for this recipe takes quite a while so make sure to plan ahead.

  • 4 boneless, skinless, chicken breasts
  • 1 lb sliced bacon
  • 2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 12-15 toothpicks
Instructions
  1. Soak toothpicks for 20 minutes.

  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  3. Cut the chicken breasts into 1-inch cubes.

  4. Cut each bacon slice into thirds.

  5. Wrap each chicken cube with bacon and insert a wooden pick to hold it together. Roll each wrapped chicken in brown sugar.

  6. Coat a broiler pan with nonstick cooking spray. Place chicken wraps on rack in a broiler pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes or until bacon is crisp.

Our family uses these meatballs for a main course, served with rice, however they also work well for appetizers.

Ingredients
  • 2 bags 14 oz. frozen original meatballs (not Italian style)
  • 2 jars chili sauce
  • 1 cup grape jelly
  • 1 Tbsp. brown mustard
Instructions
  1. Heat frozen meatballs according to package instructions.

  2. Place meatballs in crockpot.

  3. Add all other ingredients and mix together.

  4. Cook in crockpot for 3 hours on high or 6 hours on low.

Ingredients
  • 14 oz regular Kielbasa, sliced
  • 1 20 oz can pineapple chunks, reserve juice
  • 20 toothpicks (plain, non colored)
For the glaze:
  • 3 Tbsp Teriyaki sauce
  • 1 Tbsp sweet chili sauce
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • 1 Tbsp pineapple juice
Instructions
  1. Soak your toothpicks in water for 20 minutes before baking. Be sure to use plain (not colored) toothpicks, as colored toothpicks will discolor the food.

  2. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  3. Place a piece of pineapple on top of a slice of kielbasa and place on the parchment lined pan.

  4. In a small bowl combine glaze ingredients. Glaze the kielbasa and pineapple chunks. Stick each portion with a plain toothpick.

  5. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until hot. Let cool slightly and serve warm.
