Growing up in my family, food was always used to bring the family together. We’d gather around the kitchen helping mom cook, and the table to eat. We’d talk about our day, plans for the weekend and beyond.
While we were never professional chefs, food was in our nature.
Years ago, my grandmother gathered all of the family favorite recipes and put them together into a cookbook for family members. This way we could share them with other family members. Aunts and Uncles could get new recipes from one another.
My mom got copies for all of her kids, and I still have my, now quite yellowed copy, in our kitchen. It’s great when you want to pull up a recipe you remember from your childhood.
Being married brought all types of new dishes into my house. Ones I didn’t have before. And as friends and family came up with new dishes to eat, we kept adding to them.
So I decided to bring back the family cookbook, but in a more modern way. Now we’re adding those old family recipes we loved, and have provided a way to share it with family, friends, and many people we’ve yet to meet.
So enjoy an old family recipe, and the conversation around the table that goes with it.
